The Broomstick Knitting needles have been made out of actual BROOMSTICK Handles by wood worker, Joe Hanes. He then makes the caps out of reclaimed wood. They are finished with natural oil. The tips of the needles are important to his wife, Kim. She beleives the tips should be long and quite pointed, it is easier on the hand and easier to get into stitchwork. These needles have been invented to actually knit with.
They are incredibly creative. They allow the knitter to have fun and create wonderful one of a kind knitted pieces of art.
These needles are great to knit shower curtains, felted bags esc!!!
These needles were inspired by:
Kim Hanes at her own yarn store. About 7 years ago,there were women knitting at the store one Saturday. According to Kim, it was kind of "stale" in the store, no creativity, just "rote knitting". Kim turned to her husband, Joe, and said would you go down to the Hardware store and pick out a pair of broomsticks, take them home and point them in your woodshop and bring them back to the store. He did just that and VOILA the Broomstick needles were invented. The store had a different "buzz" customers were knitting together, laughing, and trying different yarns together and colors. Since than Joe has found different broomsticks, and he has made them shorter and Kim has designed many patterns for them. You need to try them out , their creative, fun and FAST.
